Awards & recap
Golf Trip Awards and Recap Ideas
The final score matters for about ten minutes. The trophy and the recap are what people remember until next year. A good set of awards keeps everyone playing for something even when the cup is decided, and a good recap is what turns a one-off into a trip you run every year.

The hardware worth handing out
Keep the main awards simple and serious. These are the ones people actually want to win.
- The cup: the overall team or individual winner. Give it a name and a physical trophy.
- MVP: the player who earned the most points across the trip.
- Low round: best gross and best net round of the week, so the scratch player and the 18 both have a shot at one.
Daily awards keep everyone in it
Hand something out every night so a guy who is out of the cup race still has a reason to grind.
- Daily MVP: best performance of the day, one per day.
- Comeback: biggest swing from behind in a match.
- Closest to the pin and long drive: easy to track and good for a small side pot.
The fun ones
Every trip needs a few awards that are about the stories, not the golf. Keep them good-natured.
- The meltdown: the worst blow-up hole or the most spectacular lost ball.
- Beverage cart MVP: self-explanatory.
- The donkey: a traveling shame award for the worst shot of the day, handed off each night.
Start a traveling trophy
The best trips have one piece of hardware that goes home with the winner and comes back next year. A belt, a cheap claret-jug knockoff, anything. Engrave or tape the winner and year to it. The trophy is what makes guys book next year before they have unpacked from this one.
What goes in a recap
A recap people re-read has a handful of things and nothing they will skip.
- Final standings and the cup result.
- Daily results round by round.
- The money: who won what, netted down.
- Best shots and the moments everyone is still laughing about.
- Photos.
- Next year's dates, while everyone is still riding the high.
Let the recap build itself
The hard part of a recap is remembering everything by Sunday night. Stymie tracks every match, award, and dollar as the trip happens, then assembles the standings, daily results, and photos into a recap the moment the trip ends.
